Goldhofer launches Atlas 2 at GSE Expo 2025

Goldhofer_GSE-Expo_002 resizedGoldhofer unveiled its all-electric Atlas 2 pushback tractor at International GSE Expo 2025, which the company describes as a milestone for the future of gate operations.

The Atlas 2 has been specifically designed for use at the gate to set new standards in terms of safety, efficiency and future viability.

Based on the Phoenix platform, the all-electric towbarless pushback tractor has further developments to meet the requirements of the modern gate.

Presenting the Atlas 2, Martin Rieser, Director of R&D at Goldhofer said it simplifies gate procedures, saying: “Our customers stand to gain from a system that is compatible with almost all of today’s usual types of aircraft – from the ERJ 170 to the B777-300ER – while at the same time replacing several conventional vehicles.”

The absence of a tow bar offers advantages over conventional pushback tractors including the avoidance of problems such as shear pin failure.

Safety features on the Atlas 2 such as the guided pick-up process for the nose landing gear.

It provides active support for correct pick-up and verifies the aircraft type.

Permissible braking and towing forces are regulated in accordance with the aircraft type being handled, reducing the load on the nose gear and ensuring gentle handling.

Safety features also include a single-lever emergency switch-off and an automatic lock to prevent accidental movement.

360 degree vision ensures visibility during manoeuvring.

Modular vehicle architecture is another key aspect with the Atlas 2 featuring a standard basic vehicle with identical drive, battery system and pick-up.

Depending on customer requirements, the Atlas 2 can be configured to their needs and means it can be adapted to new technologies and operational scenarios.

The Atlas 2 is on display at Goldhofer’s stand, P408 at the International GSE Expo 2025 in Las Vegas, which is being held from 16-18 September at the Las Vegas Convention Center (South Hall).
